As you step inside, you’ll immediately feel a sense of community. The moment you take a seat, you will be greeted not only by the friendly staff but by the soft purring of friendly felines wandering about. The cafe offers a variety of beverages, and many guests rave about the delicious Americano and cold brew coffee served here. As one happy patron remarked, “Had a decent americano surrounded by cats, what's not to love?”
What sets Tinker’s Cat Cafe apart is its commitment to animal welfare. All the cats in the cafe are from a local shelter, giving potential adopters a low-pressure environment to find their new best friend. You can spend either 30 or 60 minutes in the cat lounge, during which you can play, cuddle, or just unwind with your favorite feline companion. One visitor even mentioned their experience as “therapeutic,” and you can sense the joy radiating from both the guests and the cats alike.
The ambiance is not only about coffee and cat cuddles; it fosters connections between adopters and cats. Many visitors, like Kay-Kay M., leave with stories of their favorite furry friends, exclaiming how they wished they could take one home. Tinker's aims to create a supportive atmosphere, with the staff always on hand to assist and share knowledge about the adoptable cats.
A visit to Tinker's Cat Cafe offers more than just coffee and cats; it’s a holistic experience that combines relaxation, fun, and the opportunity to make a difference in an animal's life. So, if you're in Salt Lake City and longing for a unique way to unwind or to support a worthy cause, Tinker’s invites you to enjoy a cozy hour filled with whiskers, warmth, and wonderful coffee.
“ Had a decent americano surrounded by cats, what's not to love? I discovered this place by accident when exploring SLC since I am from out of town. Great place for those looking to adopt and find the right one in a low pressure environment or just wanting to chill with a coffee or play with some cats! ”
“ I'm a cat lover, but unfortunately live in a apartment and not allowed to have them, so I go to cat cafes when I'm traveling around. This one was great and has friendly staff. My husband and I loved the orange tabby and wanted to take him (or her-not sure) home with us lol. You can pay for 30 or 60 minute sessions. They don't take cash. Cards only. ”
“ They were very nice and welcoming here. My wife chose to go here on Mother’s Day. It was therapeutic for her to hold the cats and pet them and play with them. Our daughter had fun too. I made a sticky mess outside our rental car as we were about to go in. The person at the counter was very nice and gave me a roll of paper towels to clean it up. The cats here ranged in age from young to pretty old. Some were more friendly than others, but no mean cats. No hisses or scratches. They played very well once you figured out how to play with them. I would take my family back here. ”
“ Cat cafes are always nice to go to. But this one is extra special as the cats are from a local shelter and up for adoption. What an absolutely wonderful idea. As a bonus. The coffee was nice as well! ”
“ I went here today with my boyfriend as a cute little vacation spot (as we love cats!) and we had such a good time here. I love that you get a full hour with the cats instead of 30 minutes. We each ordered a cold brew coffee beforehand and the employees were super friendly. Would recommend this for any cat lover, or, even if you’re not a super big cat lover but want to support the establishment by getting something from the cafe side, I recommend! ”
“ Loved it! Was a week into a 2 week work trip away from my human and cat family, so of course I had to go check out Tinker's! The cats have a great open space with so many trees, toys, places to climb, etc. Also, human seating and floor space to sit. Staff were great from the moment I walked in. The coffee was wonderful. Pricing was fair and on par with what I have paid elsewhere. Love that they are helping cat adoption but also available for those of us that just need some floof . ”
“ This is a very unique concept and a great experience. I have been here at least five times and undoubtedly will visit again. It’s best to book your time slot in advance so you don’t show up and see it is taken. The cats are former strays that are brought in from a local shelter, which makes the purpose of this place even better. You don’t need a fancy breed to have a super-friendly pet and places like this help prove that. Finally, one small note through my multiple visits here - sometimes on a visit the cats can be more social than a different visit. It can depend on what cats are there, as the cats can and do get adopted out and new ones are brought in. I’ve also been told by the staff that the cats can be more social at the beginning of the day than at the end. However, every visit I have a great experience, there are always friendly kitties and I know this place deserves five stars. ”
“ Clean, well lit cafe area with tables and benches to enjoy a cup of coffee and a delicious cookie next to a quiet, enclosed space with soft and friendly kitties! There are also games and activities to enjoy while you visit and are all cat-themed! The staff here are so friendly and accommodating. Some of the cats are also available for adoption! I definitely recommend this place for cat lovers!!! ”
